Yes, some of it does. Silvercore Club member liability insurance applies anywhere in Canada and the United States, including its territories and possessions, up to $5,000,000. The National Firearms Association (NFA) liability insurance page states its cover applies anywhere in the world for members who are residents of Canada.

Which memberships include liability cover in the United States?

Check where a policy applies before you cross the border. Here is what each policy's own published terms say, as of 24 October 2026:

  • Silvercore Club: individual excess third-party liability up to $5,000,000, placed through HUB International and underwritten at Lloyd's under policy GC060153. HUB International's program document states it applies "anywhere in Canada and the United States of America (including its territories and possessions)." Membership is $59 a year.
  • NFA: the NFA insurance page offers $5,000,000 in liability coverage as an add-on at $9.95 per person per year on top of membership. It states the cover applies "anywhere in the world" and that you must be a resident of Canada to be covered.

A homeowner's or renter's policy sets its own territory and its own limit. Read yours, or ask your broker, before a trip.

What does the Silvercore Club cover in the United States?

The Silvercore Club cover is third-party liability, for claims where you are legally responsible for injuring someone else or damaging someone else's property. HUB International's program document lists recreational outdoor activities that may include, but are not limited to, hunting, fishing, lawful shooting, archery, camping and hiking. Ownership of watercraft up to 26 feet with motors of not more than 100 HP is included only while you are actively hunting or angling.

It is excess cover. It sits above your homeowner's, unit owner's or renter's policy, and the program document states it becomes the primary policy where no other personal insurance applies.

It does not cover bodily injury to you or damage to property you own, lease or rent. It also excludes your business activities and bodily injury from any intentional or criminal act or failure to act. Our page on gun club membership with liability insurance quotes the full wording, and HUB International answers coverage questions at 1-250-753-4169. The policy wording governs.

How do I show proof of cover at a US range or hunt?

Carry your proof with you. The Silvercore Club certificate of liability insurance states it is valid only when presented with a current affiliated club membership card, so keep the two together. The NFA insurance page states members can request an insurance certificate by email at [email protected], and that the certificate is sent within 48 business hours.

Does liability insurance let me take my firearm into the United States?

No. Liability insurance pays claims against you. It gives you no permission to move a firearm across the border.

Leaving Canada with a firearm has its own Canadian procedures, which the Canada Border Services Agency sets out on its firearms and weapons page. On the US side, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives uses ATF Form 6NIA for nonimmigrant aliens who temporarily import firearms and ammunition into the United States for hunting or other sporting purposes. Sort out both before you plan the trip.

To take a restricted or prohibited firearm to or from a port of entry or exit, you need an Authorization to Transport from your Chief Firearms Officer, as the RCMP page on former Bill C-71 states.

What else comes with the Silvercore Club?

The Silvercore Club is $59 a year and accepted in all provinces and territories across Canada. Members also get The Outpost member podcast, partner discounts, regulatory updates by email and free access to Silvercore branded online courses. Silvercore was the first club in Canada that is not a shooting range to be approved by the RCMP as meeting Authorization to Transport issuance requirements.

Join the Silvercore Club and keep your membership card with your licence and hunting papers when you travel.
