PAL Course in New Westminster

CFSC and CRFSC at Douglas College

Silvercore teaches the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) and the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) at Douglas College, located at 700 Royal Avenue in downtown New Westminster. Courses run throughout the year in weekend, weekday, and evening formats depending on demand. Silvercore has been teaching across BC since 1994.

Who trains in New Westminster

Students travel to Douglas College from New Westminster, Burnaby, East Vancouver, the Tri-Cities (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody), North Surrey, Whalley, Richmond, North Delta, and across the Lower Mainland. Douglas College sits next to the New Westminster SkyTrain Station, making it the most transit-accessible Silvercore location. Drive times from common starting points run roughly 15 minutes from Metrotown, 20 minutes from Coquitlam Centre, 15 minutes from Surrey Central via the Pattullo Bridge, 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver, and 30 minutes from Richmond Centre.

What to expect

The classroom is set up for hands-on instruction. We bring real, deactivated firearms representing each action type you will be tested on, and you handle every one. You work through the curriculum with an instructor, write the written test, and complete the practical test at the end of the course.

CFSC and CRFSC are non-firing courses. There is no live range component, and there is no challenge or test-out option for either course. The test-out pathway was removed years ago. Everyone takes the full in-person course, residents and non-residents alike.

How to book

Course dates and registration are on the Canadian Firearms Safety Course page for the combined CFSC and CRFSC, and the CRFSC-only page if you already have your non-restricted.

CORE Hunter Education is not offered at Douglas College. CORE runs at our Delta, Langley, Nanaimo, Parksville, and Victoria locations. See the CORE Hunter Education course page for the full schedule.
